Award Programs for AIM Club Members
Participating in Arabian Sporthorse Shows and Classes

Club Membership Meeting
March 26, 2012

1. Introduction – the rider/handler/owner membership needed to show at recognized Arabian Regional and National shows.

  • Arabian Horse Association (AHA)
  • US Equestrian Federation (USEF)
  • US Dressage Federation (USDF) – Open dressage shows, optional for Arabian
  • Oregon Dressage Federation (ODS) – Optional for dressage shows and Arabian
  • US Hunter Jumper Association (USHJA) Optional for Arabian Shows

2. Horse Registration for Arabian Shows

  • AHA – required
  • USEF – Optional! Annual or Lifetime
  • USDF – Optional! Annual or Lifetime

3. AHA Award Programs

  • Horse Achievement Awards – these are the plusses and slashes behind horse names
    i. Must pay initial $45 enrollment fee
    ii. Must pay annual $35 renewal fee
    iii. You can buy points for years horse was not enrolled. $75 per competition year

  • Amateur Achievement Awards – these are for riders/handlers and drivers and parallels the Horse awards
    i. Must pay initial $45 enrollment fee
    ii. Must pay annual $35 renewal fee
    iii. You can buy points for years rider/handler/driver not enrolled for $75 per competition year

  • Horse Achievement points – How earned
    i. Qualifier shows – can be earned in most classes by placement. (1 point for first in a class of at least 4 horses) and by dressage scores. Reference handbook http://secure.arabianhorses.org/2012handbook/Chapter11.pdf
    ii. Regional shows – 12 points for Champ, 6 points for Reserve Champ and 4 points for Top5 ONLY if in top half of class by standings
    iii. National Show – 30 points for Champ, 20 points for Reserve champ and 10 points for Top 10 ONLY if in top half of class by standings.
  • Dressage Rider Awards – two scores of 60% or higher. $45 per level and a Certificate for Training through Fourth. First through Fourth levels also receive a lapel pin.

  • AHA Open Show program – allows Dressage and Working Hunter scores earned at Open Dressage and Hunter/Jumper shows to count towards AHA qualification for Regional and National shows. Cost is $35 per discipline per year. Need to fill out Open Qualifying show/event results form. http://www.arabianhorses.org/activities/OpenQual/dressage.asp
  • Sweepstakes – Horse must be a Breeding entry (meaning a Sweepstakes Nominated Purebred sire for Purebreds or a Sweepstakes Nominated PB mare or Non-Arabian Nominated Sire for HA/AA horses
    i. Point classes for Sport Horse – 2nd level Dressage AT and Open, Sporthorse Under Saddle AT and Open, Mares and Geldings In-Hand AT – both Purebreds and HA/AA horses for all classes
    ii. Refer to Sweepstakes form
  • Enrollment
    i. One Horse enrollment form covers Achievement, Sweepstakes and Open Show program as well as USDF All Breeds Arabian/HA dressage awards
    ii. One member enrollment form covers Achievement and Dressage Rider Programs.

5. US Dressage Federation Award Programs

  • Horse must be Registered with USDF (online at www.usdf.org) One time Lifetime fee of $75. This applies to All Breed Awards even though annual registration fee is through AHA.. Use AHA Horse enrollment application
    i. Must earn at least 8 scores from 4 different judges at 4 different USDF licensed shows. Median score >60% and two scores of 60% from highest Test of the level.
    ii. Horse Sections are Arabian and Half/Anglo Arabian
    iii. Rider Sections are Junior/Young rider (21 and under), Amateur, Open Vintage (50 and older) and Master’s Challenge.
    iv. Receive Champ and Reserve Champion medals from USDF at convention or in the mail afterwards.
    v. Receive a champion medal from AHA
  • NO OTHER fees apply to make you eligible to earn Bronze, silver or Gold Dressage medals or Bronze, Silver or Gold Freestyle Bars from USDF.

6. ODS Awards

  • ODS membership and AiM show ODS recognition make horse/rider combinations earning 2 scores of >60% at a level eligible for the ODS Championship show held each Sept. at DevonWood.
  • $1 per ride fee at both Open and Recognized Breed (AHA) shows gives you a plate for your ODS plaque – a tally of 60% and greater scores earned at ODS recognized shows each year. Fee is NOT optional for ODS members.

  • Nominate your horse for $25 per category.
